2 Day Itinerary In Singapore

Welcome to the city-state of Singapore, where two days are all you need to embark on a remarkable journey through its diverse landscapes, cultures, and flavors. Here is a 2-day itinerary in Singapore!

Day 1 In Singapore

Gardens by the Bay

MRT Stop: Bayfront

The Gardens by the Bay is a spectacular sight and a great place to start your trip. You cannot look up Singapore without seeing a picture of these futuristic trees, but I guarantee when you see them in person you will be just as impressed. There are three different areas within the garden: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden, and Bay Central Garden.

Bay East Garden is the second largest bay and contains several stunning tropical gardens and a fantastic view of the skyline. Bay Central Garden links the other gardens and is perfect for a scenic walk. Bay South Garden is the largest and consists of the Supertree Grove, the greenhouses, the Childrenโ€™s Garden, and the Art Sculptures.

The Supertree Grove consists of large metal structures standing 164 feet (50 meters) tall, looking like trees, connected by a walkway. It is free to enter and open daily from 5 am – 2 am. The experience is different during the day and night; I would highly recommend visiting it twice for this reason. There are evening light shows set to music at 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm daily that are a fantastic, unique experience. The OCBC Skyway Walk costs an extra fee and is not necessary, but definitely a fun add-on and worth it if you are willing to spend the extra money. If you are going to go twice, I would recommend doing the Skyway Walk at the evening light show. For this visit during the day, take your time walking around, getting lost in this special place.

The greenhouses are the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, both open from 9 a.m.-9 pm daily. There are extra fees for these, but I would recommend both if you are not on a strict budget, and if choosing one then I would recommend the Cloud Forest. The Flower Dome displays various plants from around the world and the Cloud Forest includes a large waterfall, and sounds of nature, making you feel like you are in a real forest.

The Childrenโ€™s Garden consists of play areas for kids to run through water features, an adventure walk, and interactive games. There are over 40 Art Sculptures to admire.

MRT: Bayfront

The Art Science Museum is a 5-minute walk from Garden by the Bay. This beautifully designed lotus structure is hard to miss. With over 20 galleries inside including a permanent exhibition as well as rotating exhibitions, the goal is to tie Art and Science together.

Merlion Park

MRT: Raffles Place

Merlion Park is a 25-minute walk from the Art Science Museum, or you can hop on the MRT. If you opt to walk, take the Helix Bridge (a walking bridge) and stroll through Esplanade Park. Once you get to Merlion Park, there is a statue of Singaporeโ€™s iconic symbol – a mythical Merlion. The fish body symbolizes Singaporeโ€™s fishing village origins and the lion head represents Singaporeโ€™s original name which translates to Lion City (coming from when a lion was said to be spotted in the river).

Marina Bay

MRT: Bayfront

Walk 20 minutes or take the MRT to Marina Bay. Here, you can walk around and check out the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. This luxury mall is a beautiful structure with glass windows, high-end shops, restaurants, and a water feature running through the middle. Grab dinner at one of the restaurants here, with cuisines from all over the world there is sure to be something catching your eye.

Spectra – A Light and Water Show is a must. It is a free show that occurs every evening for 15 minutes starting at 8 pm and 9 pm, with an additional show at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Listen to the orchestra soundtrack as the water jets dance in front of you, with beautiful colors glistening with the water.

After the light show, it is time to explore the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. If you arenโ€™t staying at this hotel, by this time, you will have been eyeing the architectural beauty and are ready to see it for yourself. The Sands Sky Park Observation Deck is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily to admire the views of the city from the 57th floor. Note that there is a fee to enter. After soaking up the spectacular views, end your night at Cรฉ La Vi, a bar located at the top of the hotel. Here, you can grab a drink and continue to enjoy the views that the Singapore skyline has to offer.

Day 1 In Singapore

Singapore Botanic Gardens

MRT: Botanic Gardens

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is open daily from 5 in the morning to midnight and the entrance is free. This was Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage site and is a beautiful place to take a stroll. It is a reminder that Singapore has so many green spaces and nature, while still being a large city. Wander through the gardens, admiring the beauty for as long as you would like. A section of the garden is the National Orchid Garden, which does have an entrance fee and the hours are 8:30 am-7 pm daily. Although this is an extra cost, this is definitely a highlight of these gardens.

Chinatown

MRT: Chinatown

Once you arrive in Chinatown, I would recommend walking around and spending time at anything that catches your interest. There are beautiful Temples that will be sure to catch your eye. Below is a list of places I recommend that can all be walked to.

  • Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum
  • Smith Street (Chinatown Food Street)
  • Chinatown Heritage Center
  • Sri Mariamman Temple
  • Jamae Mosque
  • Thian Hock Keng Temple
  • Fuk Tak Chi Museum

Bugis

MRT: Bugis

Bugis is about a 30-minute walk from Chinatown, or you can take the MRT. Similar to Chinatown, I recommend walking around this neighborhood, keeping the below list of places in mind to stop at.

  • Bugis Street Market
  • Sultan Mosque
  • Haji Lane
  • Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple
  • Sri Krishnan Temple
  • Arab Street
  • Malay Heritage Centre
  • CHIJMES
  • Albert Hawker Centre

Little India

MRT: Little India

Little India is just a 10-minute walk from Bugis. Again, walk around and explore the area where you will see a lot of colors and Hindu Temples.

  • Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple
  • Indian Heritage Centre
  • Tan Teng Niah House
  • Serangoon Road
  • Abdul Gafoor Mosque
  • Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple
  • Mustafa Centre
  • Tekka Centre

Gardens by the Bay

MRT Stop: Bayfront

In the evening, it is time to go back to the Gardens by the Bay and watch the spectacular light show in Supertree Grove. The entrance is free and there are two shows daily at 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm. With the darkness, the tree structures are lit up and set to the beat of the intense music playing. It was an amazing experience; I had a smile on my face the whole time when I watched it. If you watch the first show, you can then get tickets to the OCBC SkyWalk (fee required) and watch the second show from 72 feet (22 meters) in the sky. This allows you to be up near the top of the tree structures and walk on a swinging bridge-type connector between each structure. Seeing both shows from different points of view is spectacular.

If you go at the end of December, the music and lights are Christmas-themed!
