Nashville, the vibrant heart of Tennessee, is a city rich in history, music, and Southern charm. If you are planning a weekend getaway, here is a 3-day Nashville itinerary based on my own unforgettable experience in this lively city. From iconic landmarks to trendy neighborhoods, this weekend itinerary in Nashville ensures you capture the essence of Nashville in just three days.

3-Day Nashville Itinerary

Day 1: Exploring Downtown Nashville

Morning: Brunch and Music Legends

  • Brunch at Liberty Commons: Kick off your weekend with a hearty brunch at Liberty Commons. This cozy spot has a diverse menu that’s perfect for fueling up for a day of exploration. Plus, the atmosphere is just the right mix of laid-back and bustling to get you excited for the day ahead.
  • Johnny Cash Museum: After brunch, dive into the world of Johnny Cash. The Johnny Cash Museum is quaint but flows nicely, guiding you through the life and legacy of the Man in Black with costumes, instruments, and personal artifacts.

Afternoon: Historic Sights and Scenic Walks

  • Ryman Auditorium: Just a short walk from the museum, you will find the historic Ryman Auditorium. Take a tour of this legendary venue, known as the “Mother Church of Country Music,” and learn about its past. If you are a country music fan, you will appreciate this iconic auditorium that so many artists strive to play in.
  • Walk of Fame Park: Stroll through the Walk of Fame Park to see stars dedicated to some of music’s greatest artists. Itโ€™s a fun and quick stop!
  • Pedestrian Bridge: Take a scenic stroll across the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, offering stunning views of the Nashville skyline and a great spot for some photos.
  • Lunch at Hattie B’s Hot Chicken: Head to Hattie B’s for a taste of Nashville’s famous hot chicken. Choose your heat level and enjoy this local favorite. So good!
  • Fifth + Broadway: Explore the vibrant energy of Fifth + Broadway. Whether you are into shopping, eating, or just people-watching, there is something for everyone here.
  • State Capitol: Visit the Tennessee State Capitol for a glimpse into the state’s political history and a view of the beautiful building.

Evening: Dinner and Nightlife

  • Refresh: After a full day exploring Nashville’s vibrant sights and sounds, take some time to refresh and recharge for the evening ahead. A little downtime will get you ready to hit the town again.
  • Dinner at Pinewood Social: Enjoy a delicious dinner at Pinewood Social, a trendy spot that combines dining with a bowling alley. It is a great place to relax and unwind while enjoying some good food.
  • Broadway Bars: Finish your night on Broadway, Nashville’s famous strip of honky-tonk bars. Enjoy live music, dancing, and the lively nightlife that defines the city. Stop in any bar and you are sure to have a good time. The talent here is unreal and on every floor of every bar, all day long musicians are playing their hearts out. It is what makes Nashville so special and you have to see it for yourself!  

If you are up for exploring beyond the main street, there are plenty of unique bars just off Broadway on the side streets. These spots are usually less crowded and offer a different vibe. One of my favorites is Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Barโ€”it’s a hidden gem with great music and a laid-back atmosphere.

Day 2: Neighborhood Exploration

Morning: Breakfast and Exploring 12 South

  • Breakfast at Five Daughters Bakery: Start your day with a delicious pastry from Five Daughters Bakery in 12 South, famous for its donuts and other sweet treats. Their 100-layer donuts are a game-changer!
  • 12 South: Spend the morning exploring the trendy 12 South neighborhood. This area is known for its boutique shops, vibrant murals, and charming cafes. Don’t forget to snap a photo at the famous “I Believe in Nashville” mural! This is one of my favorite areas to explore in Nashville!

Afternoon: Tacos and More Exploring

  • Lunch at Bartaco: Enjoy a relaxed lunch at Bartaco, known for its upscale street food and laid-back coastal vibe. Savor delicious tacos and a margarita before hitting up a few more spots in 12 South.

Evening: Dinner and More Music

  • Refresh: After another day of exploring, take some time to refresh and recharge.
  • Dinner at City Winery: Head to City Winery for dinner. Enjoy a selection of wines to go with your meal, and you can often enjoy live music as you dine.
  • Broadway Bars: After dinner, return to Broadway for another round of live music and dancing. Each bar offers a unique atmosphere, so hop around to find your favorite. Trust me, each place has its own special vibe thatโ€™s worth checking out.

Day 3: Rooftop Views

Morning: The Gulch

  • Breakfast at Milk and Honey: Start your morning in The Gulch by eating breakfast at Milk and Honey. Their menu is packed with Southern favorites like biscuits and gravy, fluffy pancakes, and avocado toast. It is the perfect way to kick off your last day.
  • The Gulch: After breakfast, continue to explore The Gulch, a stylish neighborhood known for its modern architecture, upscale boutiques, and trendy eateries. Make sure to spot the famous murals, including the โ€œWhatLiftsYou Wingsโ€ mural.

  • Centennial Park and Vanderbilt University: Head to Centennial Park to see the impressive Parthenon replica and then take a leisurely walk around the picturesque Vanderbilt University campus. It is a nice way to wind down and soak in some more of the cityโ€™s beauty.
  • Lunch at Martin’s BBQ: Head to Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint for lunch. Their smoked meats and classic Southern sides are delicious! The laid-back atmosphere and mouth-watering BBQ make this a must-visit spot.
  • Rooftop: Choose your rooftop adventure!
    • White Limozeen: For a memorable end to your 3 days in Nashville, visit White Limozeen, a chic rooftop bar atop The Graduate Hotel. Enjoy panoramic views of the city while sipping on craft cocktails and lounging by the pool.
    • Broadway Bars: Exploring the Broadway bars during the day is an incredible experience where you can soak up the sun on a rooftop bar while listening to fantastic music. If the nighttime crowd isn’t your thing, the daytime vibe is a perfect choice with a more laid-back atmosphere but just as talented musicians.

Evening: Dinner

  • Dinner at City House: Conclude your 3-day Nashville itinerary with a memorable meal at City House in Germantown. This rustic-chic eatery is known for its blend of Italian and Southern cuisines.
