The Best Elephant Sanctuary In Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai is one of my favorite places in Thailand AND they have an amazing elephant sanctuary! If you want to spend time with elephants in an ethical way, Kanta Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand is the place! This sanctuary provides a retirement home for elephants who previously worked in the tough tourism entertainment or logging industry.

“OUR MISSION is to provide as many elephants as possible with the good health, freedom, and happiness they truly deserve. We use our progressive and ethically responsible approach to elephant eco-tourism as a platform to raise awareness and educate people from Thailand and around the world about elephant care, the plight of the Asian elephant and our conservation philosophy โ€œElephant Conservation in Action.”

OUR HOPE is to lead by example, and contribute to a positive change in the perception of elephants; to witness a future where elephants are not ridden, poached, overworked, or abused, and are instead treated with care, love, and respect.”

Why Visit An Elephant Sanctuary?

Interacting with elephants is a desired activity while traveling to Thailand, but it requires a lot of research if you want to do it ethically. There are too many elephants severely mistreated in the tourism industry. I LOVE elephants but because of that, I know I always need to find the right way to experience these beautiful animals. Elephant Sanctuaries strive to provide a good, natural home for the elephants while educating the public about the importance of treating elephants with respect. Kanta Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand is a great way to fully interact with the elephants while feeling good about it.
