London is a dream anytime of the year, but adding lights, decor, festive pubs, and Christmas markets, WOW, what a dream! I am excited to bring you this complete luxury London Christmas Travel Guide!

Where to Stay

Since this is a Luxury London travel guide, let me put you at the heart of London luxury – Claridgeโ€™s. This iconic hotel in the heart of Mayfair is pure London elegance. You are in for true beauty the moment you walk in, with the elegant marble checkered entryway decked out in Christmas trees and garlands.

The rooms are all slightly different, which makes it incredibly unique and fun! And you must ride the mirrored elevator (you will know it when you see it!). From suites to rooms, you can choose how luxurious you want your stay to be. It has great charm with all the right amenities. Plus, Claridgeโ€™s is in a perfect location. You can easily walk to everything in this London travel guide and be close to all the holiday magic.

Now that you are all checked in and living the luxurious life in London, letโ€™s dive into all the festive, fabulous things to do in London during the Christmas season!

What to Do in London at Christmas (the Luxury Edition)

Covent Garden

Covent Garden is a shopping and entertainment hub and a must-do in London all year round, but during Christmas, it transforms with large ornaments, lights, music, and a massive Christmas tree. There is high-end shopping, charming boutiques, cozy cafรฉs, and pop-up holiday stalls, and it is the perfect place for a day of shopping for gifts or just soaking in the holiday atmosphere.

Walk Along Oxford Street and Regent Street, Admiring the Christmas Lights

One of the best things you can do is just walk the streets of London and enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights and decor. The luxurious shops along Oxford Street and Regent Street have bows, holiday displays, and lights draped all around them. It is truly a magical experience in the evening!

Afternoon Tea

A proper afternoon tea is probably the most perfect way to spend your day on your luxury London trip. Many places will add to the festive vibe, and it is a perfect way to treat yourself after a day of walking and exploring. Enjoy sandwiches, scones, Christmas-themed pastries, and plenty of warm tea in beautiful teacups.

Here are a couple options that are extra luxurious. Definitely book any of these options way in advance!

  • Claridgeโ€™s – You do not need to venture far if you are already following the best place to stay in this luxury London travel guide. The elegant afternoon tea is beautifully presented, and you will feel like royalty.
  • The Ritz London โ€“ Get a classic afternoon tea experience with stunning decor and incredible music.
  • Fortnum & Mason โ€“ Enjoy afternoon tea at the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon on the top floor of this historic department store.
  • The Connaught โ€“ Enjoy a peaceful tea service in this beautifully cozy space.

Dine at Sketch

It is hard to put this experience into words because it was the event I was most looking forward to on our trip to London. And wow! It absolutely lived up to the hype.

If you are going all in on a luxury London Christmas, dinner at Sketch is a must. This is not just a meal, it is an artistic experience. Sketch is an iconic and quirky restaurant, known for delicious cuisine, unique decor, next-level service, and yes, the famous egg-shaped toilets!

Sketch is made up of several unique dining spaces, each with its own design and vibe. But if you want the full luxury experience, book a reservation at the Lecture Room & Library, the restaurantโ€™s Michelin 3-star dining room. The experience consists of a tasting menu with wine pairing options. Be prepared for a long, multi-hour dinner with plenty of food!

Book early! Reservations for the Lecture Room & Library are not easy to get, especially during the holiday season. And if you cannot get a spot there, just try out any of the other Sketch rooms for a less luxurious, but still unique experience!

Dine at Benares

London is known for exceptional Indian food, so the cuisine should definitely be included on your London trip. There are many Indian restaurants in London to choose from, but Benares in Mayfair is my recommendation. The establishment is quite large, it has a good atmosphere, and of course, the food is so flavorful and delicious!

Southbank Centre Winter Market

It would not be Christmas in London without going to an iconic Winter Market! It is a lovely walk near the Southbank Centre Winter Market, along the Thames. There are classic wooden shops selling gifts and delicious street food. When you are over here, check out Big Ben, ride the London Eye (you can book a private capsule with champagne for a luxurious experience), and enjoy a beautiful river walk.

There is truly nothing like London at Christmas, especially when you get to experience it in luxury. From elegant afternoon teas and Christmas markets to 3-star Michelin dinners and festive strolls past sparkling lights, this city absolutely knows how to do the holidays right, and I am so excited you get to experience it.

Wishing you the merriest, most magical London Christmas yet!
