There is a residential home near Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis that has become a local springtime sensation, affectionately known as “The Tulip House.” This private residence has a front yard garden that has an impressive display of tulips, thoughtfully arranged and tended by the homeowners, who if you are lucky will be outside and happy to discuss their garden.
Each year, the garden features an incredible array of tulip varieties, creating a colorful display. The homeowners have been planting these flowers for years, and their passion for tulips shows in the meticulous care and planning that goes into this garden.
If you are coming close by, I recommend biking to the house so you can continue around Lake of the Isles for the perfect springtime activity. Otherwise, you can drive to Isles Bun & Coffee, a local coffee shop with delicious puppy-dog tails (small, twisted versions of their classic cinnamon roll), and walk to “The Tulip House.”
